Carroll oversees HID Global’s RF technology privacy and policy initiatives

The Security Industry Association (SIA) recently announced that Kathleen Carroll, Director of Government Relations for HID Global, is the new Chair of the Government Relations Committee. The announcement was made at the opening of the SIA Government Summit, the premier public policy conference in the security industry, which took place on June 19-20 at the Embassy Suites Washington Convention Center Hotel in Washington DC.

Kathleen served as the architect of SIA’s Privacy Framework and led the fight against restrictive state legislation to curb the use of security technologies,” said Don Erickson, CEO and former Government Relations Director of SIA. ”Kathleen has been an effective government relations leader for SIA and our industry.”

Carroll oversees HID Global’s radio frequency (RF) technology privacy and policy initiatives, including pending legislation in the 50 states and national and international policies and regulations. She also works to support public policies that address national identity management and cyber-security initiatives. She previously served as the Chairperson of the Security Industry Association’s (SIA) State Policy Advocacy Working Group, which works to educate legislators, business leaders and consumers about radio frequency technology and its benefits across a spectrum of applications, including identity management, physical and logical access control, food and drug safety, child safety, and patient safety. She is a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals and a Certified Information Privacy Professional and a Certified Information Privacy Professional/Government.

"I am thrilled to accept the Chairmanship of SIA's Government Relations Committee and look forward to continuing the good work of my predecessors.” Carroll said. “HID Global has been a long-time member of SIA and in that time has recognized the value we derive from the GR Committee's policy and legislative work.  I would like to carry that message to all SIA members and demonstrate that value by focusing on those issues, national, state and local, that are most important to the membership."
