Through interoperability with other ONVIF conformant products, Synectics is providing customers with greater freedom of choice
The ONVIF specification is generating increased interest for security products

Synectics has demonstrated its commitment to providing customers with interoperable solutions by achieving ONVIF conformance.

Synectics' Synergy™ security management software, Simplicity HVR/ NVR and the Primary Storage Node (PSN) range are now fully conformant with the ONVIF core specification 1.02.

This guarantees full compatibility with any 3rd party ONVIF conformant IP cameras and video servers - a pool of around 1000 different products.

Through interoperability with other ONVIF conformant products, Synectics is providing customers with greater freedom of choice and flexibility when selecting components for their security system.

As well as ensuring that customers can choose the best products to meet specific needs, this also means that the integration process is simplified and costs are potentially reduced.

David Aindow, Product and Technology Director at Synectics, a subsidiary of the Quadnetics Group, explains: "End-users will see significant cost benefits through reduced development time traditionally associated with the integration of 3rd party products as now we can simply ‘plug and play' with any conformant device."

ONVIF's ultimate aim is to develop an open global standard for IP-based physical security products to make it easier for end users, integrators, consultants and manufacturers to take advantage of the possibilities offered by such solutions.

The ONVIF specification is helping to make this goal a reality and is generating increased interest for IP-based physical security products and IP-based security/surveillance solutions.

David Aindow concludes: "This is an exciting step for us. ONVIF is a rapidly growing standard initiative and the number of other manufacturers implementing the specification into their products means we are truly on the way to a fully interoperable IP market."
