Reid D. Holmes serves on the Smart Card Alliance Payments Council and participates in the EMV Migration Forum work groups
Holmes will present “Accelerating EMV Personalisation: Factors that make a difference” on Thursday May 15

INSIDE Secure, a leader in embedded security solutions for mobile and connected devices, recently announced that Reid D. Holmes, VP Business Development of Payment at INSIDE Secure, will hold a session during CARTES America, May 13-15 in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. Holmes will present “Accelerating EMV Personalisation: Factors that make a difference” on Thursday May 15, 12:00pm – 12:30pm, within the seminar entitled ‘Will the US keep its EMV promise (part II)?’

“As EMV rolls out in the US, card issuers will be faced with personalising millions of cards based on the Common Personalisation Specification (CPS),” said Holmes. “Although there are no questions about how to personalise EMV cards, the choice of chip operating system can greatly affect the cost, speed, transaction performance, and user experience of an issuer’s card.”

Holmes will examine the technical factors that are critical to EMV personalisation, such as EEPROM size and transaction speed. He will also weigh personalisation costs, throughput, supporting infrastructure, and resources required in order to meet market demands.

Reid D. Holmes serves on the Smart Card Alliance Payments Council and participates in the EMV Migration Forum work groups. He has extensive experience in a wide range of payment and mobile technologies, combined with a deep familiarity with members of the payment industry ecosystem in North America. Holmes previously worked for Giesecke & Devrient America, where he was responsible for contactless payment and transit product sales. There, he engaged in early Near Field Communication (NFC) and Over-the-Air (OTA) mobile payment trials. Before that, he was VP responsible for deploying emerging products and services at VISA. Holmes started his career with divisions of Western Union and AT&T after graduating from Virginia Tech with a degree in Mathematics.
