The appointment follows strong growth since opening its UK office to serve the region
Harris comes with a strong experience in out-of-band and remote monitoring technologies

Opengear, a leading provider of secure, next generation console server and remote infrastructure management solutions, has recruited Andy Harris as its new VP of Sales for EMEA. The appointment follows strong growth since opening its UK office to serve the region, with a 49.9% increase in sales from Q1 2012 versus Q1 2011.

“Harris has a solid background in out-of-band and remote monitoring technologies, having held senior roles at Uplogix and Netbotz, which was acquired by APC in 2005. Opengear has grown organically in the region based on its fantastic technology and ability to meet the needs of its regional clients”, comments Harris. “The goal is now to scale that potential by getting additional channel partners on board and bringing the technology to a wider audience.”

Opengear has also reported a massive rise in demand for its 3G solutions to provide secure out-of-band connectivity to remote sites. In the last year, demand for 3G products has overtaken traditional solutions by 32.3% and the lead is growing as competition between the cellular carriers allows 3G data plans to typical cost up to 70% less than PSTN or DSL equivalents.

Robert Waldie, VP Business Development for Opengear commented, “Andy adds experienced and proven sales leadership to our local technical expertise which will help us to focus more energy on marketing our leading-edge solutions and engaging with our growing channel community.”
