Opengear, provider of next generation, secure console server and remote management solutions, recently announced the Opengear IM4216-34, a high capacity infrastructure management gateway that proactively monitors and maintains the health of all the IT equipment in data centers and remote locations; delivering faster troubleshooting and problem resolution.

Opengear console servers provide leading-edge, secure remote access to network devices including servers, routers, switches and firewalls, as well as PDU and UPS devices. The IM4216-34 provides one point of control for managing all the servers, networking and power equipment in a rack. The IM4216-34 provides sixteen serial ports for advanced console management, a 32 port Ethernet gateway for SNMP device management, three USB ports and 16GB of internal flash memory.

Highlights of the Opengear IM4216-34 include:

Security: Opengear's enterprise-grade security technology protects networks against intrusion.  The IM4216-34 includes a built-in enterprise-class firewall, FIPS 140-2 module, SSH v2, SSLv3/TLSv1, OpenVPN, IPSec, RADIUS, RSA SecurID support, Kerberos support, IP filtering and per port access control lists to give superior control over security functions to vital IT assets in the datacenter and in remote locations.

Automated Remote Management and Support (ARMS): Opengear's auto-response capabilities offer system administrators remote, secure and instant automated remediation.  ARMS is an easy to configure run book automation framework with a virtually limitless set of corrective actions that can be applied in response to defined events and thresholds.  For example, in the event of ping failure on a managed device, alerts can be sent, devices can be reset or custom recovery scripts can be run.  In another example, if a critical UPS battery level is reached, a graceful shutdown can be initiated before loss of power causes an uncontrolled shut down.

Remote rack-level management:  Opengear securely manages service processor technologies and management ports embedded in servers and other network equipment either in-band, or through dial-up and/or wireless broadband (cellular) out-of-band - to guarantee availability and access for monitoring, management and maintenance of remote locations, even during network outage or disaster recovery.
