North America’s first private Granite club deploys FST biometrics access & security solution
IMID access system enables over 10,000 members and staff to freely enter and exit access-restricted areas of the facility

The Granite Club, Canada’s premier family, social, recreation and athletic club, recently announced it has implemented a state-of-the-art access and security system designed to allow freedom of movement for members and staff, while restricting access to authorised users only.

“Following a comprehensive process, we selected FST’s IMID Access system because it has the perfect combination of sophistication and convenience for our members and staff, in addition to unparalleled security,” said James DiRenzo, Chief Operating Officer of The Granite Club. “We wanted a solution that provided secure access and comprehensive usage data, without creating any obstacles for our busy club members, whose time is truly a precious commodity.”

FST IMID access & security system

The IMID Access system, provided by award-winning secure access technology provider FST Biometrics, utilises a fusion of biometrics information. This enables the more than 10,000 members and staff to freely enter and exit access-restricted areas of the facility, which includes a world-class athletic center, 5-star dining and meeting facilities and a children’s centre.

The Granite Club cited the “frictionless” (touch-free) nature of IMID Access as a key reason for selecting the solution. IMID Access does not require the user to touch anything, swipe a card, carry a fob or punch in a code on a keypad. This aspect of the system, while certainly convenient, is particularly useful in a high-use active community, where health and hygienic best practices are very important to club operations.

Highest level of protection and security

In addition to the core goal of protecting access to specific areas within the Club, the IMID Access system has been deployed in the children’s centre in order to provide the highest level of protection and security for members’ children.

“IMID Access is perfectly suited for a first-class facility such as The Granite Club, which requires the ultimate in secure access while ensuring freedom of movement for its members and staff,” said Aharon Zeevi Farkash, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of FST Biometrics. “We are pleased that our solution answers The Granite Club’s key needs.”

The Granite Club is one of North America’s oldest and most prestigious private member clubs. Founded in 1875, the Club prides itself on a healthy balance between social, recreation and athletic pursuits in a family-friendly environment.
