CCTV and video recording technology from Xtralis has prevented theft at a metal firm
ADPRO V3100 hybrid network video and audio provides high quality images to be transmitted for visual verification

Highly trained CCTV operators from Visual Verification and the very latest ADPRO V3100 Video and Audio Transmission and Recording technology from Xtralis have combined to thwart an attempted robbery of more than £20,000 of lead at a metal trading business in Barnsley.

The incident, which resulted in the intruder's arrest, occurred just four days after the new ADPRO V3100 system was commissioned. The product was just launched by Xtralis and this is one of the first installations anywhere in the world. The technology was installed by Wednesbury-based security specialists, Richards CCTV.

Metals, and especially lead, have become valuable commodities in recent times and a target for opportunistic criminals. The metal trading firm in Barnsley recognised the increased threat, and opted for a CCTV system monitored remotely by Cheshire-based Visual Verification to provide them with a proactive way of protecting their assets.

An integral part of that system, and providing the essential link between the site and the central station, is the ADPRO V3100 Hybrid Network Video and Audio Transmitter / Recorder. It was the ADPRO V3100 that enabled high quality images of the incident to be transmitted in real time to Visual Verification, where its operators were able to view the cause of the alarm and initiate an appropriate response.

Steve Nelson, Managing Director of Visual Verification explains: "In this incident an intruder was detected and we were immediately alerted. Thanks to the clarity of the image, the operator could see precisely what was happening and issued an audio alert to warn the intruder that he had been seen. He also called the police."

"The police responded very quickly and were able to catch the intruder red-handed, before any stock was stolen and also before any other damage was done. While the images were being transmitted they were also being recorded, and the high quality video and audio were made available to the police for prosecution."

"Given the value of the goods that might have been stolen, the system has already paid for itself several times over," he adds. Steve says that his operators were also helped significantly by the new ADPRO VideoCentral Platinum software installed at his central station: "The functionality of the new software is a considerable advance on what was already an excellent technology," he adds. "It allowed my operator to have instant visibility of site maps and guide the police to make their arrest."

The ADPRO V3100 Hybrid is a new generation of highly reliable technology with analytics for both IP and analogue CCTV remote monitoring applications. The new ADPRO V3100 Hybrid is a single or multi-site system that monitors and transmits high-quality images using H.264 compression so operators within a central monitoring station such as Visual Verification can quickly assess an unfolding security situation and take appropriate action.

It also uses server-grade hard disks to locally store up to 8 terabytes of data ‘in the box,' and when used in conjunction with the ADPRO VideoCentral Platinum management software, provides the most flexible multi-site video security system available.

ADPRO VideoCentral Platinum is a multi-site security management software application designed to monitor video and audio (2-way) from remote sites using ADPRO video transmission systems. Supporting the latest Microsoft operating systems, ADPRO VideoCentral Platinum is a single-version product that supports multiple PCs and operators. It is ideal for either central monitoring station and/or command centre applications, or for a single operator or laptop user who requires only periodic site monitoring.

ADPRO VideoCentral Platinum allows remote monitoring of staff, stock and general site activity with interactive, user-definable maps enabling an operator to call and control sites directly from a map or map layout. ADPRO VideoCentral Platinum features user-friendly icons, pull-down menus and wizards for ease of control and administration.

Working in conjunction with ADPRO proactive remote video recording and transmission devices like ADPRO V3100, ADPRO VideoCentral Platinum enables users to view high-priority events such as panic, duress or armed hold-up in real time.xSite owners can use the solution on a PC or laptop to remotely view video and stage an appropriate response, eliminating needless site visits or security patrols.

Integrated audio is an additional feature to assist with alarm verification, providing the capability to listen or talk to a remote site. ADPRO VideoCentral Platinum also allows an individual user access control and the ability to remotely control devices such as lights, gates or barriers alongside PTZ cameras for monitoring or surveillance.
