Julian Hellebrand is appointed as EVP for Lifecycle Management (LCM) & Programme Management
David Ashton is appointed as EVP for Business Development & Technology

Cobham plc has named two of its current management team to newly established executive vice president (EVP) positions:

• David Ashton, as EVP for Business Development & Technology

• Julian Hellebrand, as EVP for Lifecycle Management (LCM) & Programme Management

“These appointments are in line with our strategy to return Cobham to sustainable, organic growth,” said Cobham plc chief executive officer Bob Murphy. Both appointments take effect from 15 April 2013.

In his new role, Mr. Ashton, currently the vice president of Cobham’s Tactical Communications & Surveillance (TC&S) strategic business unit, will report directly to the CEO and become a member of the company’s Group Executive committee. “It is critical that our future investments are focused on the customer needs of today and the future, and David’s appointment will optimise the Group’s ability to ensure the right solutions are available when customers need them,” Mr. Murphy said.

Mr. Ashton, who enjoys more than 20 years of experience in aerospace and defence leadership roles around the world, living and working in Asia, Europe and North America, will be based at Cobham’s Corporate North America office in Arlington, Virginia. He will continue to lead the TC&S business until a successor is appointed.

Mr. Hellebrand, currently Chief of Staff to the CEO and Group Director of Communications, brings more than 25 years of experience in project and programme management roles, working on development and aftermarket projects, while living and working in Europe, North America and Australia. “Julian’s appointment will provide momentum and visibility on this critical competency, because programme execution is vital to delivering organic growth, as consistent delivery of customer expectations is the bedrock upon which organic growth is built,” Mr. Murphy added.

In his new position, Mr. Hellebrand will continue to report directly to the CEO, remain a member of the Group Executive committee, and work at the Wimborne site. He will retain his Chief of Staff duties in the near term and continue to be responsible for Group Communications until a successor is appointed.
