A Geutebruck CCTV system was chosen to secure the outer perimeter of Saudi Aramco's oil terminal at Ras Tanura on the Persian Gulf, where the world's biggest oil company has an oil operations centre, a refinery and a port with artificial islands to facilitate deep-water docking for tankers.
The vast oil terminal with a 25-kilometre perimeter has been equipped with a high-security, high-redundancy, CCTV solution designed to survive the unexpected and deal with it without significant impairment. To meet the customer's requirements, the system installed by STESA, incorporates redundant units which take over all functions from failed ones within 2 seconds, so ensuring that it provides a continuous, intelligently filtered security overview of the whole site.
"Essentially, protecting large, high value assets on oil and gas sites...," comments Harun Ozerdem, Geutebruck's area manager for Eurasia, "...is about establishing an impenetrable perimeter using a combination of high end security systems and making them work together perfectly to deliver all relevant data instantly to security staff in a readily understandable form. The whole installation has to be able to survive serious mishaps and failures and remain fully functional 24/7."
