ADT, Europe's leading provider of electronic fire and security solutions, is set to significantly enhance its retail loss prevention and management offerings in the UK by adding new business intelligence applications to its existing suite of solutions.  This enhanced data analytics capability follows the acquisition earlier this year of USA-based company Retail Expert, Inc. by ADT's parent company Tyco Fire & Security.

Founded in 1996, Retail Expert has been helping customers such as Toys R Us and TJ Maxx to enhance their operational performance by collecting and analysing point of sale data that can help limit losses and improve overall efficiency.  The company's software solutions in the areas of loss prevention, employee theft, vendor management, refund management, case management and inventory control will now be made available through ADT's operations across Europe, complimenting and expanding the company's retail technologies which include Sensormatic® electronic article surveillance and Sensormatic® SmartEAS®.

The acquisition brings together two retail technology leaders, according to John Smith, Vice President of Retail Sales for ADT Europe, Middle East and Africa.  "We have been the market leader in retail loss prevention and management technology for many years, with more than 80 per cent of the top 100 retailers worldwide using our products and solutions," said Mr Smith.  "This additional business intelligence capability will enable us to offer a more comprehensive retail management solution to further bridge the convergence between security and information systems technologies."

Retail Expert solutions are already used by 4,000 loss prevention professionals to monitor activity in over 30,000 stores.  The flagship software product, NaviStor®, helps retailers collect data on key performance indicators throughout the entire organisation and then use that information to make operational improvements to limit losses and increase performance.

ADT offers a complete suite of electronic security and operational tools for retailers around the world and serves 9 of the top 10 global retailers.
