AMG Systems Ltd. recently announced that it has been contracted by ADT Fire & Security, the UK's leading provider of electronic fire and security solutions, to supply the CCTV transmission system as well as the fibre optic infrastructure installation for the integrated safety and security solution for the new prison on Isle of Man.

The £ 41 million, category B prison has been designed by Taylor Young, working in partnership with Isle of Man Architects McGarrigle and Jackson.  The Isle of Man Prison - Jurby will house 140 male and female inmates, young offenders on remand as well as more vulnerable prisoners.  The facility will also include reception, visitor areas, education and training, kitchen and recreation facilities.

"The integrated safety and security solution for Jurby prison, which ADT has been contracted for, includes the installation of CCTV, access control, perimeter surveillance with intruder and detection alarm, cell calls, general alarms, intercom and public address systems.  The simplicity of AMG's transmission system including the data interfaces makes it very easy to work with in terms of integration and it's very high quality," says Peter Tipples, Project Manager at ADT.

Dr. Alan Hayes, founder and MD of AMG Systems, commented, "I am delighted that we have been chosen to supply the CCTV transmission system for the new prison on Isle of Man.  This is an important project for AMG to win and I'm pleased that our experience with fibre optic transmission systems also provided us with the opportunity to install, terminate and test the fibre cable itself."

AMG Systems will supply their VisionTM 2000 Plug-‘n- Play real time full bandwidth fibre optic transmission system covering a substantial number of CCTV cameras both internally and externally around the new prison, in a mix of fixed and PTZ  (Pan Tilt Zoom).  The CCTV signals are routed to a Central Control Room and to localized monitors around the site, as well as stored on DVR's.

The new Isle of Man Prison - Jurby will replace the overcrowded Victoria Road site in Douglas, which dates back to 1891.  The new prison development is also expected to bring a much needed improvement in the infrastructure to the Jurby area and hence act as a major catalyst for regeneration in the northern settlement of Jurby where Taylor Young have also worked with McGarrigle and Jackson to help to develop a long term master plan for the area.
