A combination of detectors from Optex help prevent theft and vandalism at Corner Park Garages |
Paul Burch, Managing Director of Apollo Alarms, has been designing CCTV systems for Corner Park Garages in Swansea for four years. Initially he specified a solution that included 40 early technology REDWALL three-metre beams to provide a 'virtual' perimeter. However, trees have since been planted in the compound, presenting an even greater challenge with regards false alarms, as Paul explains. "The REDWALL detectors have performed well over the years with very few false alarms," he says, "but the system needed to be upgraded. We decided to change the detection pattern away from the perimeter of the property line to the main vehicle display areas of the site."
Because of the known presence of wildlife around the site Paul opted for multiple HX40AM BoundaryGard detectors to provide a warning of intruders, with images from the CCTV relayed to Securi-Guard¹s monitoring centre in Plymouth. "We have only had to attend the site briefly to fine-tune some zones," Paul says, "and have virtually eliminated all false alarms. I have specified Optex detectors for more than two decades and following advice from their engineers, we opted for the anti-mask HX40AM BoundaryGard detectors which means they cannot be interfered with."
"We will continue to specify Optex detectors on all our projects for many years to come as they provide the lowest false alarm rates on the market," he concludes.
Apollo Alarms was established in 1991 to carry out the installation and maintenance of security.
