Xtralis' ADPRO technology supports Gosport And Fareham Inshore Rescue Service
Xtralis donates an ADPRO remote video surveillance and perimeter protection solution to the GAFIRS
Xtralis, a leading provider of intelligent fire detection and security technology, recently announced that it is donating an ADPRO remote video surveillance and perimeter protection solution to the Gosport and Fareham Inshore Rescue Service (GAFIRS) to support the service in its mission to provide free marine rescue cover in the Solent.

GAFIRS is a registered charity, independent of the Royal National Lifeboat Institute (RNLI). Its volunteer crews are on call 24/7, and respond to over 130 requests for help from HM Coastguard Marine Rescue Centre each year. The calls range from accidents and incidents at sea to fires and even unexploded bombs left over from the war.

The service's headquarters, however, where the boats and rescue equipment are kept, is unmanned, and therefore needs high levels of security. A remotely monitored video surveillance solution is required, and the GAFIRS Duty Officer Colin Davey has turned to Xtralis for help.

"As a charity we rely heavily on public donations," he explains. "Since all of the money goes towards the purchasing and upkeep of the equipment, security has always had to take a back seat. We do have a number of cameras at the site, but it has not been possible previously to monitor these cameras remotely, and false alarms have also been a problem."

"Now with the ADPRO solution we will be able to access images from the cameras anytime, anywhere, over the web, so that if an alarm is triggered we can see precisely what is happening without having to visit the site in person. The ADPRO technology will also be able to better integrate with the existing intruder alarm system to give us a much better security solution all round."

Following a major extension to the HQ last year, and as part of a winter maintenance project, Colin approached Xtralis to see if ADPRO could help: "I was previously Head of Asset Protection for Scottish & Southern Energy PLC and worked as an independent security consultant," he adds. "In both cases I specified Xtralis' ADPRO technology and knew that it was precisely what we were looking for."

"We are all absolutely delighted that they've agreed to help, and thank them for their generous support."
