This new RS485 communications protocol for downstream devices is designed to deliver unparalleled functionality to field security hardware with substantially greater speeds and improved security through strong encryption algorithms and key lengths.
The new communications protocol means HBUS devices are not limited to traditional daisy-chain wiring structures of RS485 protocol devices. Gallagher introduces HBUS consolidation boards which allow star-wiring of HBUS devices to the current Gallagher Controller 6000. Retrofit of previous expansion modules attached to the Controller 6000 is easy, and star-wiring via the new HBUS consolidation board enables simplified identification and diagnosis of issues as their source can be isolated.
Newly upgraded Gallagher T Series Readers are also equipped with the new high speed HBUS protocol. The attractive readers are environmentally friendly and durable while still providing unparalleled security. The T Series Reader range supports the latest version of the Mifare DESFire format DESFire EV1 smart card, which offers flexible control of card data and high card security.
The HBUS protocol between the control panel and the readers makes them capable of downloading new codes and adding new features at the door without any requirement to replace hardware.
