Segmüller was established in 1925 in the Bavarian town of Friedberg. Today it boasts a well-developed chain of furniture salons in southern Germany. Its nine branches employ over 4,000 workers; Segmüller's furniture factory directly employs around 300 employees. The company's flagship Friedberg salon measures over 430,000 square feet.

Prior to partnership with AxxonSoft, the company's security consisted of local, unconnected video systems from different providers. Each furniture salon had a video monitoring post, where guards monitored the screens for changes.

The client needed an integrated solution to enable centralised monitoring for all branches at night, while maintaining support for localised monitoring during the day. Axxon Intellect Enterprise allowed creating a centralised video management software (VMS) encompassing nine company stores as well as warehouse, tailor-fit to the needs and conditions of each site.

All of the company's existing IP cameras were successfully integrated into the new system. Motion detection tools recognise suspicious events automatically. Zones that are prone to generating false alarms (moving tree branches, adjacent roads, etc.) are masked as necessary. Using the Map object function, operators can now immediately determine the camera from which an alarm is originating. They can also configure different system reactions to alarm events: these include displaying the telephone number of the security company on the screen and sending an alarm message by SMS or email. Thanks to remote access and automation at all sites, nighttime shifts require only a small number of operators at the central monitoring station.

The issue of further expansion of the CCTV system has been resolved as well. New cameras and branches are easily connected to the existing network, which currently numbers 388 cameras and is constantly growing.
