The next endeavor for Palestine is to install ISONAS in their school elevator
ISONAS’ Crystal Matrix software integrated with Telecenter U PA system allows immediate lock down

David Long, Technology Director for Palestine Independent School District describes the ISONAS PowerNet™ Reader as the “Swiss Army Knife” of access control. David was faced with a dilemma when it came to his district’s access control system – he was tired of paying someone to service and update his old proprietary system as the districts needs evolved. Being a guy that has spent his career getting technology to work for him and make his life simpler – he wanted a system that could meet the changing needs of his school without the continued cost.

ISONAS Pure IP access control solution

In partnership with KLC Video Security, he came across the ISONAS Pure IP access control solution. The IP technology is what attracted him first. The ability to have his access control system based on his network with an open platform allows him to solve all security needs for the 6 separate campuses and 3300 students at Palestine ISD. The ability to centrally program the system from one location provided him the flexibility to manage the full district.

After the tragedy at Sandy Hook, all schools in Texas were required to have a lock down protocol that alerts their local law enforcement in the event of an issue. The flexibility of the ISONAS INR server and open platform allowed him and installer KLC Video Security to integrate the Telecenter U PA system with ISONAS’ Crystal Matrix Software to accomplish alerting the authorities of an intrusion situation. They now have the ability to initiate a lock down at the push of a button.

Safe and secure environment

The integration allows an immediate lock down at the push of a button, for the entire district or an individual campus along with pre-recorded announcements via the PA system. From the ISONAS software this lock down function also triggers a text message and email to his local law enforcement; they are alerted of the lock down and can take action. Once law enforcement arrives at the building, an individual or universal pin code for the ISONAS PowerNet™ Keypad reader is issued so law enforcement can access the building. With the flexibility and integrated system the school can provide a safe and secure environment for students and faculty.

David has installed ISONAS in the Palestine High School and plans to expand the install to all campuses, starting this summer. The ability to lock down the system with the push of a button and integration with the PA system convinced the school administration that ISONAS was the way to go to protect their students. The next endeavour for Palestine is to install ISONAS in their school elevator and with the flexibility of Pure IP technology David should be able to do so simply and quickly.
