Stadtwerke München provides security staff with Cassidian’s new TH1n terminal units
Cassidian installs Stadtwerke München's TB3c base station for security

Together with the TETRA network operator Stadtwerke München (municipal utility operator) and the German Army (Bundeswehr), Cassidian is providing security equipment for the 49th Munich Security Conference. The Munich Security Conference was first held in 1963 and, over the last few decades, has become the most important conference in the world for foreign and security policy. Each year, it provides high-ranking policy makers from all over the world with a forum for discussing current and future security challenges in depth.

Numerous prominent political and business guests from Germany and abroad are once again expected at this year’s conference, as are international media representatives. To ensure the safety of the guests and guarantee support in organising the conference, Cassidian, together with the TETRA network operator Stadtwerke München, will equip the venue with state-of-the-art secure radio communications technology.

Especially for the conference, Stadtwerke München’s TB3c base station from Cassidian will be installed for security and conference staff, as well as to aid the logistic support services provided by deployed Bundeswehr staff, and will be connected to its existing TETRA network. Using this network, it will be possible to communicate securely during the entire event. As a result of heightened requirements, the radio system will have special security levels, such as authentication and radio interface encryption. For the first time, Stadtwerke München will be providing security staff with Cassidian’s new TH1n terminal units, the smallest and lightest TETRA radio devices in the world, making them particularly suited to covert use.
