Siemens’ safety and security products for people, processes and assets at Security Essen 2010
The new version of the Sinteso fire safety system and the Siveillance portfolio will be showcased at Essen

Security and fire safety solutions take centre stage on the Siemens stand at Security 2010 in Essen: with Siveillance Fusion, Siemens will present an integrated security management system, which offers a centralised view and control of access control, intrusion detection, and video surveillance. Siveillance Fusion is an IT based system with open standards, providing both modularity and flexibility. In the fire safety field, Siemens will present new developments in the Sinteso fire protection portfolio as part of a "Life Safety" concept which considerably improves human protection. The information provided at the Siemens stand is completed by market-specific solutions and innovations.

The Siemens Division Building Technologies will present its latest various fire safety and security innovations at the Security 2010 trade fair in Essen between October 5th and 8th; including the new version of the Sinteso fire safety system and the security portfolio that has been extended with Siveillance Netwatch.

Open and flexible security solutions

Siveillance Fusion combines access control, video surveillance and intrusion detection in a single security management system, providing complete control and overview of a corporation's physical security operations. Siveillance Fusion is an IT based system working with open standards such as ONVIF (Open Network Video Interface Forum). By being an ONVIF conformant management station customers are given the freedom of choice in selecting field level components such as cameras and encoders.

With Siveillance Netwatch, Siemens presents an application for the converging physical and IT security sectors: the platform enables the systematic monitoring of selected IT components and their performance, and creates alarms, which are displayed and handled via the security management systems, should something be suspicious, providing a complete security view including components performance in real-time.

Additionally the other three systems from the Siveillance portfolio will be displayed in a command and control setting. Siveillance Vantage which is focused on the critical infrastructure segment will be displayed along with the integration of Siveillance SiteIQ wide area surveillance system. The Siemens' solution for emergency management forces, Siveillance Command, will also be displayed, showing how intervention forces can be efficiently directed via command and control systems.

Innovative and industry-specific fire safety solutions

Within the fire alarm technology sector, Siemens will present the new release of the Sinteso fire safety system which brings the protection of human lives to the next level. At the heart of the "Life Safety" concept is the Sinteso FDOOTC241 fire and gas detector that not only provides reliable fire detection, but also triggers an alarm when potentially harmful CO concentrations are detected in the ambient air.

Further "Life Safety" features relating to the Sinteso fire detectors, control units and FDnet devices include an emergency mode - ensuring reliable signal transmission even in the event of a control unit malfunction - a standby mode and integrated turbo isolators. The latter guarantee that alarms are reliably triggered in case of a fire by ensuring that alarm sounders and floor repeater terminals remain functional even in the event of a power failure or a short circuit.

This uninterrupted alarming functionality ensures compliance with the requirements covering the functional integrity of electrical circuits, as laid out by the German "Muster-Leitungsanlagen- Richtlinie" (MLAR).

Sinteso enables the networking of fire control panels using standard IT technology due to its new, LAN-based cluster/backbone architecture. With this, Siemens provides the first IT-network solution in the context of fire protection that fully complies with the requirements of the European EN 54 standard covering the control, alarm transmission, visibility and access.

Other exhibits in the field of fire safety include market-specific solutions and modernisation concepts that deliver optimal investment protection for existing systems. The latest innovations will also be on show, including Siemens' vision for "Intelligent Response" systems. These future response systems will analyse building information taken from various systems, such as fire safety, security, or building automation, provide dynamically updated instructions for online operations, and recommend immediate actions that should be taken to mitigate the situation, and aid evacuees and intervention forces in egress efforts.
