The memorandum outlines an information-sharing agreement between SIA and DHS that is intended to help both parties
This is the first time that SIA has signed such an agreement with a federal agency

The Security Industry Association (SIA) recently signed a memorandum of understanding with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science & Technology Directorate.

The memorandum outlines an information-sharing agreement between SIA and DHS that is intended to help both parties "benefit from cost savings, technology awareness and enhanced relationships."

"DHS' commitment to providing state of the art technological capabilities to its operating components and the nation's first responders require that it maintains awareness of cutting-edge advancements in the electronics industry," the memorandum said. "As such, DHS will work with SIA to bring together DHS employees, first responders, end users and private sector personnel in an online and/or face-to-face environment to exchange information and facilitate technical discussions on common goals and achievable objectives."

This is the first time that SIA has signed such an agreement with a federal agency.

"We are very proud to have the opportunity to work with the DHS Science & Technology Directorate," SIA CEO Don Erickson said. "They do critical work every day to secure the nation's people and critical infrastructure, and through this agreement, SIA and its members will do all that we can to ensure that DHS knows about the latest and most innovative electronic security solutions."

SIA and DHS are planning a joint webinar, to be held in the near future, to announce the details of the agreement.
