IPC, Association Connecting Electronics Industries®, has awarded certification to DSC under IPC's Certification for Lead Free Electronics Assembly Process Capability Program.
Commenting on the certification, Charles Han, General Manager, Toronto Operation, DSC, noted: "The IPC lead free certification audit should be a mandatory step for any RoHS lead free conversion process. As part of our commitment to the environment and to providing value to our customers, DSC is taking a leadership position in lead free conversion. The unbiased view and the expert assessment offered by IPC were exactly what we needed to achieve the highest possible standard in lead free compliance."
Leo Lambert, vice president of consulting for EPTAC Corporation, conducted the DSC audit. "The audit was quite something in that DSC has eight lines building lead free products today. They were a pleasure to visit and they definitely have the capability, the knowledge, the skills, and the people to make it happen - they are proof that it can be done," said Lambert.
The IPC Certification for Lead Free Electronics Assembly Process Capability is an audit of an electronics assembly facility - whether it's an OEM or EMS facility - to determine if the facility is capable of producing product that meets the lead free requirements of the Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive. The audit is not designed to ensure that a facility will produce lead free compliant products. The certification program is an excellent way for a facility to validate its lead free electronics assembly process capabilities and to impress upon its customers and suppliers its commitment to excellence.
