DSC, part of Tyco Security Products, announced the release of IMPASSA, a next generation wireless alarm system designed to be a full-featured security solution offering a range of communications and installation options to fit the changing needs of the wireless intrusion market.

With the system's distributed wireless approach, IMPASSA enables the control panel and wireless components to be installed wherever needed for optimal protection.

Using high-quality speakers and microphone, IMPASSA delivers 2-way audio alarm communication with the central alarm monitoring station during alarm events. With built-in VOX only or VOX and push-to-talk, homeowners can easily talk to operators via phone line.

Installers can also easily install and enroll wireless devices in minutes with IMPASSA. With only one wire needed for AC power, on-site installation time and disruption to the home is greatly reduced. Adding wireless devices to the system is also accomplished in minutes with a set of user-friendly screens that confirm compatible wireless devices using their Electronic Serial Numbers, zone numbers and zone type.

Using IMPASSA's template programming feature allows installers to program basic functions by simply inputting pre-defined, four-digit codes for zone definitions, reporting code formats, communication call directions and DLS setup.

The system supports up to 32 wireless zones and 16 wireless keys (without use of a zone slot) and accommodates 17 different user access codes with a 500-event buffer. The enlarged keypad buttons make it ideal for a wide range of users.

IMPASSA is available through DSC's North American distribution channels.
