Dedicated Micros - part of AD Group - will be using IFSEC 2010 to announce the rolling-out of its Integrated Camera Recording (ICR) technology across key product lines. These include the popular CamVu series of CCTV cameras and, most recently, a new Encoder ICR which offers network streaming from any video input regardless of its source.
The ground-breaking ICR approach, adopted by Dedicated Micros, which is realised in the CamVu series of cameras, brings together a megapixel, VGA or analogue resolution camera with a powerful enterprise class video server - all in one compact package. When applied, ICR has the potential to deliver robust, failsafe, local storage, local viewing and playback, remote access, meta-data integration, event logging/management and even analytics at the edge of a customer's network. In practice, Dedicated Micros believes that - unlike centralised NVR-only based solutions - this means that critical recording can be maintained regardless of the status of the IP network.
All Dedicated Micros' products with ICR functionality come with one day of full rate recording thanks to onboard solid state storage, provided by a microSD card or similar storage media. In addition, there is the option to access further tiered storage, including a locally connected SATA drive via ATA over Ethernet (AoE). Using the AoE protocol allows the highly-secure, point-to-point, transfer of video files to a separate storage device, for backup and long-term archiving. A key point is that this can continue to operate, even in the event of complete failure of the TCP/IP architecture and network infrastructure.

Crucially, Dedicated Micros' ICR solutions also support the transmission of multiple, simultaneous, video streams in MPEG-4 and JPEG for live viewing and recording. As the groundbreaking ICR concept revolves around a built-in high performance enterprise server, users are able to take advantage of advanced functions such as multi-mode recording. This allows dynamically-switchable resolution, record-rate and compression (MPEG4/JPEG) settings.
To add value to surveillance solutions, Dedicated Micros' ICR products are Analytics Capable which means that users can unlock features such as: ANPR, Valuable Object Watch, Perimeter Protection and Doorway Counting. This is already enabled within the hardware of the unit and only a software license upgrade is required to activate the analytics.
The latest ICR-enabled product from Dedicated Micros is the Encoder ICR. This extremely powerful unit supports network communication and connectivity to any video input regardless of source or compression method. Through the Encoder ICR, analogue or IP cameras, PTZ and megapixel cameras as well as cameras connected to multiplexers, DVRs or video servers can be viewed, recorded and controlled. Streams from third party IP cameras, which are otherwise restricted to a single compression or streaming method can be recorded and streamed using a different, more efficient, codec and also multi-cast if required.
The Encoder ICR's built-in enterprise video server and powerful on-board chipset - from Dedicated Micros' sister company ChipWrights - means the product can perform a multitude of simultaneous tasks including: analytics, encoding/decoding, recoding and display activities.
