The shortlisting of D-Tec reflects the growing take-up of its Video Smoke Detection (VSD) solutions in large scale projects across the globe including its IP-based, NetVu Connected, FireVu units in the main tunnel at the famous Palm Jumeirah man-made island in Dubai.  Other sites which have benefited from D-Tec's VSD technology, to provide an early warning of fire, range from the Sydney Harbour tunnel to the massive 600 metre wide Royal Airwing Hangar complex at the Dubai International Airport - the world's largest privately-owned aircraft hangar.

Said Ian Moore, Managing Director at D-Tec: "We are extremely pleased to be a finalist in such a prestigious award. From the start our business has been built with a strong international focus.  This is reflected in the fact that according to IMS Research we have 41.3% market share of the VSD market worldwide, based on 2006 data.

"Time and again we have proven that Video Smoke Detection can deliver an effective solution, analysing images from CCTV cameras, to identify smoke in challenging fire protection scenarios from voluminous structures, such as aircraft hangars, to tunnels where their confined nature and higher heat release rate is problematic for conventional solutions."

The final result of the Security Excellence Awards 2008 will be announced at a ceremony, in front of hundreds of security professionals, on 9 October at the Hilton Hotel, Park Lane, London.
