GSI 2010 is based on the respected and highly acclaimed international Global Security Asia Series in Singapore
Home Secretary of the Government of India to support and officially open the Global Security India 2010
The Organisers are pleased to announce that the Home Secretary of the Government of India, Mr Gopal K. Pillai has agreed to fully support and officially open the Global Security India 2010 Exhibition and Conference which is to be held from 28 to 30 April at The Ashok Hotel in New Delhi, India. The Organisers are also pleased to announce that the Director Generals of all relevant Indian Homeland Security Agencies have also pledged their support and will attend the Show with their senior personnel.

GSI 2010 is based on the respected and highly acclaimed international Global Security Asia Series in Singapore, and will focus exclusively on the national security and terrorist threats that the Indian Sub Continent currently faces. The exhibition will showcase the latest systems and equipment currently available to counter these threats.

Following the Mumbai tragedy, with the ongoing terrorist activities in Jammu, Kashmir and the North Eastern States, plus the Naxal (Maoist) insurgency, Homeland Security is a top priority for the Indian Government. To underscore this statement, the Indian Homeland Security budget has been increased for fiscal year 2009/10 by a further $10B USD and will continue to increase at the rate of 25% per annum for the foreseeable future thus making India not only the fastest-growing but certainly one of the largest single markets in the world for Homeland Security products and services. From a marketing standpoint this is an opportunity that should be addressed by all International/National Homeland Security companies.

With this as a background Global Security India 2010 is therefore extremely timely and will provide the global Homeland Security industry with an unprecedented and unique opportunity to promote and showcase their products and services to key decision makers within the Indian Federal and State Security Services who will be attending this important international Show. Extensive procurement challenges face India today, from coastal protection, mass transportation and airport/port security, border protection, surveillance, critical infrastructure and civil protection, policing and counter terrorism to mention but a few.

Relevant Agencies/Services that have confirmed their support include the following:

  • National Security Advisor
  • Director Generals of Security Organisations responsible for the Commonwealth Games
  • Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D) - Responsible for the induction of new equipment and techniques.
  • National Security Guard (NSG) - India's rapid reaction force
  • Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) - Responsible for the protection of critical infrastructures e.g. Airports/Seaports, Nuclear Power Stations, etc
  • National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA)
  • Border Security Force (BSF) - Responsible for Pakistan, Bangladesh and Myanmar
  • Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) - Responsible for Nepalese and Bhutan borders
  • Coastguard - Responsible for the security of over 7,400 km of coastline
  • Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) - Deployable force to assist State/Union Territories in Police operations
  • The Director Generals of Police covering all States

Military support includes:

  • Military Secretary to the President of India, Lt. General Chopra
  • Chief of the Army Staff, General Deepak Kapoor
  • Military Intelligence
  • Defence Production
  • Assam Rifles - They are the internal Para-Military Force currently combating Maoist insurgency in the North Eastern States
  • Rajputana Rifles

With the Indian Homeland Security budget set to grow by a massive 25% to over Rs.36,841 crore (US$29.52 Billion) in 2010, it is certainly imperative for suppliers to be there at Global Security India 2010.  India is now the fastest-growing market for homeland security equipment in the world and will continue to increase in the foreseeable future.
