RemGuard is hitting all the right notes with its remote CCTV monitoring service at this prestigious concert venue right in the heart of Manchester.

Out of hours security

The versatility of remote monitoring - especially for large high value sites out of hours - has already been demonstrated in numerous installations across the UK, protecting a multitude of premises including concert halls, and sports stadia against organised and opportunist attacks.

A case in point is the approach taken to security at The Bridgewater Hall, which plays host to some of the world's foremost musicians in more than 250 performances a year.  The decision by the owners to adopt intelligent CCTV is a reflection of the overall sophistication of this stunning £42 million waterfront building.  The entire 22,500 ton structure floats free of the ground on almost 300 earthquake proof springs, cocooning it from outside noise and vibration.

Certainly, a key advantage of RemGuard's remote monitoring service for The Bridgewater Hall, which now features the latest generation RemVu Aquila transmission system, is the coverage it delivers out of hours.  If an incident happens overnight at the Hall, setting off strategically placed detectors, signals from the nearest - of the 16 - CCTV cameras around the venue are sent to RemGuard's Remote Video Response Centre (RVRC).

Says George Sidgwick, the Senior Facilities Technician at The Bridgewater Hall: "Remote monitoring has been - and continues to be - an invaluable part of security at the hall, reflected in our move to the most advanced RemVu Aquila transmission system to link our site to RemGuard's RVRC."

Event-driven

"An example of the system in operation was when a window was smashed by a projectile on the hall frontage.  RemGuard's operators picked it up instantly and vitally we were able to go to the scene within minutes to secure the building."

Comments Kevin Crosby, Managing Director of RemGuard Visual Management: "We are delighted to be able to provide out-of-hours monitoring for The Bridgewater Hall and believe that with the move to the latest state of the art RemVu Aquila, the best possible service is in place to meet future threats.  When applied correctly, intelligent remote monitoring - as incidents are confirmed visually - reduces false alarm rates, prevents criminal damage, minimises disruption, lowers security costs and maintains critical police cover."
