Dallmeier's Video over IP workshops in November proved a total success.  Due to the high interest additional dates were arranged and were swiftly booked up.

"Video over IP" is a subject that you see everywhere at the moment.  Dallmeier is manufacturer and project manager of the world's biggest real-time IP video system in the Venetian Macau and of the first fully digital CCTV/IP casino system in the USA for the Barona Casino in San Diego.  These are just two examples out of many and the company has already gained vast experience in this field.  Now Dallmeier is determined to pass this knowledge on to interested distributors and installers.

In November, Dallmeier held eight one-day workshops in the state-of-the-art FAT Center in Regensburg, Germany.  During comprehensive workshops the participants learned how to benefit from Dallmeier's long lasting know-how and how to apply it to their day-to-day CCTV projects.

Interest was very high and within 24 hours all events were fully booked.  As a result Dallmeier offered several additional dates that were also booked up quickly.  Registrations came not only from Germany but also from Switzerland, Great Britain, Hungary and Slovakia.

One of the referees, Konrad Hechtbauer, Head of Project and Applications Team at Dallmeier, said:

"We have installed some of our solutions in the biggest systems in the world, for example for the Venetian Group in Macau. We achieved data security of 99,99994 per cent!  This proves Dallmeier's aim to only offer highest quality.  Just a few statistics bring home the size of the project:  We are talking here about 3,000 Dallmeier encoders with a total storage capacity of approximately 1.5 petabytes.  So we have broken through the magical sound barrier of the petabyte.  That, by the way, is a figure with 15 zeros!

"And the solutions which have proved themselves on a large scale, we also use in small scale projects. Because what functions on a large scale, also functions on a small scale - but not necessarily the other way round.  And that's exactly what we wanted to demonstrate to the participants during our workshops."

In the workshops it was shown how projects are conducted successfully - from planning until commissioning.  The main questions in this process include:  What are the individual requirements that the customer wants the surveillance system to meet?  What conditions apply, for example, in terms of infrastructure and networking, and how can the Dallmeier solution be integrated in any systems that may already be in place?  It is only possible to ensure that the solution will meet all the expectations of the customer if that customer receives complete advice tailored to his specific needs from the very beginning of the process.

The quality of products used is decisive, as they have to pass tests under severe testing conditions.  The installation on-site is overseen by experienced technicians who make sure that the recording systems are run in the correct environment.  Today's CCTV systems require that recording systems run in an air-conditioned, dust-free environment, similar to IT servers.  In order to guarantee a smooth operation, both the client's technicians and operating personnel undergo extensive training.

Another important part of the event was an examination of network technology.  Which components are most suitable to ensure a reliable CCTV/IP solution?  When talking about a CCTV/IP system, it is important to remember that the essential reason for installing a CCTV system is to ensure a reliable recording.

Crucial is the absolutely reliable functionality of the system, and for this every single component has to be chosen correctly. At Dallmeier all systems are IP ready, that is, ready for operating in a network.

The participants' feedback was wholly positive. The high interest in these workshops shows that there is still a high information demand in the Video over IP sector.
