Xtralis ADPRO security systems solution chosen for installation |
The challenge
Both Imperial Toyota and Lindsay Saker Audi and VW are amongst South Africa's largest and most successful retail vehicle dealerships. These two vehicle dealerships, within the Imperial Holdings Group, are spread over vast expanses. They are experiencing unacceptable levels of theft, vandalism and loitering, even with the use of professional security guards on a 24/7 basis.
Tyres, mirrors and even vehicle badges were regularly stolen and as there was little perimeter protection around either dealership, criminals and vagrants gained easy access to these sites. In addition, with limited control relating to recording of vehicles and drivers leaving the premises, vehicles were being stolen during normal working hours.
Another major consideration for managers was how to enable after hours access to their sites for prospective buyers wanting to inspect the vehicles. To this end they required a flexible system that would accommodate these potential customers, while ensuring effective security measures were in place.
The solution
Extensive consultation with senior managers at the two dealerships was conducted, as well as a thorough review of the specific logistic and geographical challenges at each site. Armed with this, local security company, ImperiSecure devised a multi pronged security solution, consisting of Xtralis's ADPRO FastTrace and Video Central Gold multi-site security system, including PRO Series Passive Infra Red detectors (PIR), audio switchers and speakers.
CCTV cameras, outdoor and indoor PIR detectors and speakers were installed at strategic points around both premises. Cameras were installed at entry and exit points, along the perimeter fencing and on the external vehicle display areas.

The results
Since implementing these ADPRO security solutions, the number of guards at each site has been dramatically reduced. After shutting down for the night, sites are monitored by the ImperiSecure Central Monitoring Station (CMS). In the event of an alarm event occurring, ImperiSecure provides security guards with detailed information on exactly where the intrusion has eventuated. If a problem occurs at the rear of the premises, ImperiSecure is capable of monitoring the rest of the site whilst the security guards check the rear of the building.
"Since the installation of the ADPRO equipment, site incidents have dramatically decreased. The ability to monitor guards at any time, day or night through the cameras, means we save on the time and cost of having to send someone on the site. The increased productivity has been a beneficial implementation for us as a company and has enabled ImperiSecure to provide a more professional service," comments Jacobus B Jansen van Rensburg, Director of ImperiSecure.
Bi-directional audio is used on many sites, to greet customers or ward off intruders, and all are monitored by ImperiSecure's state-of-the-art CMS in Bedfordview. In the event of some extreme situation occurring, the CMS also provides dealership personnel with a duress/panic solution during regular working hours.
