About Basic Security

A leader in the field of security solutions in the Ivory Coast, Basic Security provides its customers with a wide range of services including; video surveillance, monitoring using alarm systems, fleet management, and geolocation VIP protection. Basic Security supports its customers from the initial planning stages through customising the solution, installation and ongoing support.

The challenge

In order to provide CCTV and security services to the residents of Abidjan, Basic Security was using an existing network based on wired lines. However, the company faced a number of challenges including the high cost of leased lines; low quality services due to limited bandwidth of only 128 Kbps, and insufficient coverage to provide connectivity to all the critical areas in Abidjan. As a result, Basic Security sought a wireless solution that could answer these challenges and enable them to improve public safety and security for the residents of Abidjan.

The solution

Basic Security selected Alvarion because of their good market reputation, product quality and availability and high-capacity solutions. The wireless network was built using the BreezeACCESS VL and SU54 subscriber unit to provide point-multipoint coverage and the BreezeNET B300 for high-capacity point-to-point access. The network also includes several analogue cameras positioned in key locations across Abidjan. The recorded images are transmitted in high-quality to a central control room where they are monitored and used to identify incidents that jeopardise the city's security and safety.

The result

Alvarion's cost-effective network has enabled Basic Security to offer improved security services to the residents of Abidjan and as a result, public safety has increased significantly. The high quality video images transmitted to the control room have enabled the police to catch many offenders including several men who broke into a football stadium and some who were attempting to assault a woman. In addition to security services, Basic Security is now also able to provide connectivity to businesses that were previously outside the coverage area and could not benefit from broadband access.
