ASL Safety & Security at work in the London Underground
Over 130 LUL stations rely on ASL's safety critical voice evacuation systems

ASL's work with London Underground began in 1993 with the design and development of SIL2 rated matrix control and micro control products for the incumbent providers which were integral to LUL's first generation voice alarm product, including interfaces with the Station Management System (SMS).

Following on from this contract ASL became involved in the product design and development of Voice Alarm systems for other manufacturers, which would eventually lead to the award of the Whole Life Maintenance Contract for the 13 station Jubilee Line Extension over a period of 19 years.

In 2004 ASL began manufacturing its own comprehensive range of PA/VA and Long Line PA equipment; adopting SIL2 standards for both hardware and software design. ASL also pioneered the use of Adaptive Class D amplification with fan-less cooling and DSP routing; all were unique developments in voice alarm technology which have since given ASL's end-users marked improvement in space utilisation, energy efficiency and MTBF performance.

Over 130 LUL stations now rely on ASL's safety critical voice evacuation systems with installation, maintenance and support being provided through ASL's long-standing partnerships with numerous delivery partners.

Continued investment in research and product development has been key to ASL's broadening relationship with LUL over the last 16 years, understanding which products and technologies solve key operational issues and drive down the total cost of ownership. ASL holds regular workshop sessions to identify emerging trends and help better understand operational requirements.
