The National Communications Centre is located at Manvers, South Yorkshire
The new combined Control and RVR Centre will enhance Axis Security's services to its clients
Axis Security, a leading provider of bespoke security systems and manned guarding services, has opened a new National Communications Centre to support the delivery of essential security services for the whole of its business throughout the UK.

The new facility, in Manvers, South Yorkshire, effectively brings together two separate capabilities - the manned guarding control room and the remote video response centre (RVRC) - under one roof, to further improve the quality of service provided to Axis Security clients.

Chris Wisely, Finance Director of Axis Security, says that there were practical and operational benefits behind the decision: "With the centralisation of our headquarters and London operations into our King's Cross office," he says, "we also wanted to create a manned guarding control room. For this we have invested in our existing remote monitoring centre in Manvers, creating a larger ‘hub', from which we could also control our manned guarding operations."

The development of the combined centre draws on the expertise of key personnel already in place: "Dave Leivers, who manages the remote monitoring centre, also has a proven track record in running manned guarding control rooms which made the transition even easier," Chris adds.

The communications centre is crucial to the day-to-day management of guarding operations, making maximum use of the TimeGate Roster Management software to ensure officers are where they should be, when they should be, and if there is an issue, it is resolved quickly and efficiently.

The RVRC includes state-of-the-art CCTV transmission/recording technology to manage and respond to alarms generated from sites protected by Axis Security. Where a physical response to that alarm is required, Axis Security also has the ability to deploy its own officers on site, to deliver a truly integrated ‘manpower/technology' solution.

The new combined manned guarding communications centre/RVRC is manned 24/7, 365 days a year by up to eight security officers/RVRC operators.
