Lord Mayor of Newcastle (L) and Jonathan Levine, Managing Director of Axis Security (R)

The Lord Mayor of Newcastle officially welcomed Axis Security, one of the UK's fastest growing manned guarding businesses, to Newcastle at the opening of its new regional operations centre.

Axis, which is well-known for providing high-level security for a number of prestigious financial institutions and professional firms in the South, as it looks to expand its operations nationwide by opening a new office in Union Street.

The Lord Mayor, Councillor Michael Cookson, offered his support to Axis saying: "It is a great pleasure to welcome a new company to the city and the prospect of future jobs in a very difficult time."

Axis has regional branches in Hounslow, Manchester, Rotherham, Bristol, Birmingham, Livingstone and Belfast, and is now looking to replicate this model in the North East, where its clients already include Rolls Royce, Komatsu, and various parts of the local NHS.

David Riley, Commercial Manager for the region says that the company has a sound platform on which to build: "A new office in Newcastle at the very heart of the North East sends a clear signal to our customers and potential customers that we are serious about their business, and serious about providing the level of local support they need to deliver a first class service."

In a recent SIA-ACS Audit, Axis was placed in the top 5% of security providers in the UK for the quality of its servicE

David confirms that up to 35 jobs could be created in the first year as the company seeks to recruit new licensed security officers, and that this figure might treble over the next two to three years: "We have grown by more than 100% over the last 12 months and much of that has been achieved organically," he says. "We have similarly ambitious targets for this year."

David says that Axis officers receive one of the most comprehensive and competitive benefits packages within the manned guarding industry: "This has helped us recruit and retain some of the very best, and enjoy one of the lowest attrition rates ever."

In a recent SIA-ACS Audit, Axis was placed in the top 5% of security providers in the UK for the quality of its service.
