COE Group plc, the developer and supplier of advanced video surveillance systems, has partnered with ADT, the UK's leading provider of electronic fire and security solutions, to conduct a trial of COE's X-Net VI analytics and scene analysis software at Clapham Junction railway station, South London, to detect graffiti and other specific events.  The system operates on COE's X-Net G3 IP video codec.  Detection areas will be set up to cover the areas of highest crime and the results monitored over several weeks.

"The COE analytics system has a unique architecture which allows multiple rules to run on just one video stream and reduces false alarm rates.  The analytics system can also be downloaded to selected COE codecs which customers have already installed as a software upgrade.  We are pleased to be involved in this trial of our powerful technology," commented Andrew Wallace, chief executive, COE Group Plc.

ADT is a major supplier to the UK rail network and will be monitoring the trial and the results.  "This sort of test is tough for any automatic analytics tool but COE's X-Net VI system is powerful and we expect positive results," said Eric Roberts, Account Director, Transport, for ADT.

The results from this trial could influence how rail operators monitor and maintain their infrastructure because effective analytics allow accurate and timely detection of malicious activity across the rail network.  Graffiti is a real issue for train operators and the costs of cleaning and repair are significant.
