The combination of the displays with Barco's networked video processing results in improved situational awareness
Barco has also been selected to provide both the VPU and triple head driver display for the programme

Visualisation pioneer Barco is proud to announce that General Dynamics UK, the prime contractor for the British Army's Scout Specialist Vehicle (Scout SV), has selected Barco's 8” rugged extreme displays in triple head configuration and Video Processing Unit for the programme.

Scout SV is one of the British Army's most important vehicle programmes. In addition to a previous statement, where General Dynamics UK selected Barco's 13” extreme rugged displays, Barco now announces that it has also been selected to provide both the video processing unit (VPU) and triple head driver display for the programme.

For the driver display, General Dynamics UK chose the TX-321S, an 8” triple head display based on Barco's existing offer of TX rugged extreme displays. The Video Processing Unit, VPU-101S, provides each SV vehicle with networked video and graphics. The combination of the displays with Barco's networked video processing results in improved situational awareness, more efficient collaboration and faster decision making.

“We are honoured to have signed this new contract with General Dynamics UK,” comments Reggy Mortier, Barco's Director Key Account Management. “General Dynamics is an important key account for us and we want to thank them for their continued support and trust. We now supply three main visualisation components to the SV platform. This new contract is a validation of the efforts we have put in developing our technologies to withstand the most demanding environments.”

The Video Processing Unit (VPU) is a networked video processing and distribution system for the ground vehicle market. In line with Barco's corporate strategy to invest in high-performance networked visualisation technologies, the Barco defense networked products will continue to further evolve with the technologies from the recently acquired networked visualisation solutions specialist IP Video Systems.

People could get more information regarding the technologies provided for General Dynamics UK during the International Armoured Vehicles show, that took place from 20 to 21 February at the FIVE, Farnborough, UK (Booth E38).
