Surveillance related topics discussed in detail by VideoIQ executive at IFSEC 2010
Video analytics are changing the physical security industry by making video surveillance proactive
VideoIQ, the leader in video surveillance innovation, announced that Gary Pfeiffer, Vice President of worldwide sales co-presented a session with Neil Smith, Group Managing Director, Clear Image Group at the international security conference, IFSEC. Titled "Why Video Analytics Will Change the Security Industry," the session took place at 11:15 a.m. on May 11, 2010 at the NEC in Birmingham, UK.

Attendees to the session learnt how video analytics are changing the physical security industry by making video surveillance proactive, automatically triggering real-time alerts when threats are detected, and by enabling intelligent forensic search and investigation.  Pfeiffer discussed the significant return on investment from video analytics, including guard augmentation and remote monitoring.  Finally, he took an in-depth look at real-world companies of all sizes that are using video analytics to cost effectively enhance security.

Session topics included:

  • Proactive surveillance - How real-time threat detection allows organizations to more rapidly address incidents before crime occurs, reducing loss while increasing guard effectiveness.
  • Installation and calibration - Identifying key installation and calibration considerations that effect upfront and long term costs when selecting video analytical technologies.
  • Network efficiency - Understanding how video analytics can reduce system bandwidth consumption, increasing overall system deployment flexibility and enhancing remote installation and monitoring options.
  • Intelligent live viewing - How video analytics can increase operator effectiveness by not only identifying suspicious objects, but automatically zooming in and tracking people and vehicles during live viewing.

  • "Video analytics are becoming mainstream but the bottom line remains that all video analytics are not created equal," said Gary Pfeiffer, Vice President of worldwide sales for VideoIQ. "In this discussion we intend on sharing not only the breakthrough impact of video analytics, but the important steps companies should take to ensure they select the best available technology for their environment."

IFSEC attendees saw a live demonstration of VideoIQ's complete line of intelligent cameras and encoders with embedded adaptive analytics including the iCVR D1 dome camera, iCVR-MP megapixel camera, iCVR encoder and family of iCST streaming cameras and encoders designed for use in environments with central storage and third party VMS platforms.
