COMPUTERLINKS hosts a special security conference for East Anglian businesses
COMPUTERLINKS, a leading global distributor of IT security and Internet technology solutions, recently announced it will be hosting a special ‘Security Solutions Day' for East Anglian businesses on Tuesday 20 October at its headquarters in Newmarket. The event will include presentations from the Estates and Buildings Division of the University of East Anglia, specialist security consultancy Check Your Security (CYS) and pioneering high-resolution network video camera manufacturer, Mobotix.

The video surveillance and CCTV market has undergone massive changes since the technology was first introduced in the 1960s, with industry analysts such as Frost & Sullivan predicting ‘an explosive growth path' over the next four years. Today IP-based network systems and solutions are widely available, provide better quality images more efficiently, are easy to install, have a lower total cost of ownership and are compatible with existing analogue cameras.

"Many businesses may not realise how their existing IP network can be used to manage their video surveillance and security without having to ‘throw the baby out with the bath water'," commented John Turner, head of COMPUTERLINKS' physical security division. "We are hosting this event to give local organisations the chance to see how their existing analogue systems can be integrated with the latest video camera technology to reduce costs, enhance image quality and improve overall security."

The ‘Security Solutions Day' will include a presentation from Mike McCormack, risk management advisor for the Estate and Buildings division at the University of East Anglia. Mike will highlight how the use of CCTV has evolved at UEA to include state-of-the-art IP-based technology within a strategic campus-wide CCTV system that fully integrates with existing analogue cameras while maximising staff efficiency.

"We needed a flexible solution that could integrate to other systems - past, present and future - and so take the pain away from growth, while offering maximum choice of options and services," explained McCormack.

Practical advice on how to select the most appropriate systems and solutions will be available on the day from Carl Pace, managing director of Check Your Security (CYS). Carl's specialist team of skilled consultants covers a wide range of disciplines including analogue and IP security system installation, networking, telecommunications and software and has a strong track record in integrating existing CCTV systems into future-proofed IP-surveillance systems.

The Security Solutions Day will be held on Tuesday 20th October at Suffolk House, Fordham Road, Newmarket, Suffolk from 9.30am to 12.00pm and will be repeated from 1.00pm - 3.30pm. Delegates will be invited to join COMPUTERLINKS for a buffet lunch at 12.30pm.
