SALTO advanced access system wins Building of the Year awards
The installation of advanced access control systems in both hotels significantly contributed to the award wins
Two new hotel projects in Bulgaria, the Hotel Metropolitan-Sofia and the Park Hotel Pirin-Sandanski, have won awards in the 2008 Building of the Year contest for their advanced SALTO Systems access control installations.

The Building of the Year awards ceremony, held at Sofia's Ivan Vazov National Theatre and broadcast live by Bulgarian National Television, is sponsored and organised by Euromarket Construction and recognises excellence in the field of construction and architecture in Bulgaria.

From the start of the contest six years ago in 2002, over 400 buildings have been scrutinised by the professional jury consisting of Bulgarian and foreign experts in architecture, investments, consultant services and business and only the best buildings have won the coveted brass statuette by famous sculptor Petko Moskov and the title Building of the Year.

The Hotel Metropolitan-Sofia won the category for the best Business Hotel and the Park Hotel Pirin-Sandanski won the category for the best Holiday Hotel.

The installation of advanced access control systems in both hotels significantly contributed to the award wins. The decision to embrace the latest in electronic security using contactless MIFARE smart cards allied to SALTO's virtual network technology gave, in the judge's opinion, significant advantages of comfort and security to guests and outstanding controllability to management.

Marin Marinov, of APEX MM Ltd (BG) the local distribution partner that carried out the SALTO installations at both hotels, said: "We are delighted that both hotels, having selected SALTO as their preferred choice of electronic access control system, have won these awards. It recognises that the Bulgarian construction market embraces the best technology available and offers some of the finest hotel accommodation in Europe."

Aznar Sethna, SALTO Systems Area Sales Manager Northern Europe, said: "We are proud to be the system of choice in construction projects all over the world. These two awards prove that with one technology - SALTO - hotels can enjoy unlimited access control possibilities."
