Hospital won Health business Award thanks to SALTO systems
The hospital decided to replace its old system with a modern SALTO electronic access control system.

Salisbury District Hospital has won the 2008 Health Business Hospital Security Award for its advanced SALTO Systems access control installation.

The Health Business Awards, held at Arsenal's Emirates Stadium on the 11th December, recognised excellence in the NHS by presenting awards in 14 different categories to organisations that have made a significant contribution to its development. The awards were presented by one of the UK's most recognisable medical experts, Dr Hilary Jones of GMTV.

Reading the winning citation for Salisbury District Hospital, Dr Jones said: "The critical assets of a hospital - its people, property, information and reputation - must be protected.  This award recognises that Salisbury District Hospital has made significant steps towards a safer environment for patients and workers through the implementation of a security policy which incorporates the latest advancements in advanced access control technology.

The hospital decided to remove a system of codes and key control and replace it with a modern state-of-the-art SALTO electronic access control system that could provide them with full audit trail information. The XS4 locks of this system now provide 90% of the benefits of a fully on line access control system at the cost of a stand alone system. It provides Salisbury District Hospital with a fully scalable and future proof access control system with built in growth capability that delivers significant benefits for both staff and patients."

Sandra Hodgkyns, Security Manager at Salisbury District Hospital said: "We are absolutely thrilled to have won this award. It recognises the time and effort we put into evaluating and selecting our SALTO access control system which plays a major part in making our hospital a secure and accessible environment for all its users."

John Crummack, Sales Director of Vidsec Ltd, the approved SALTO Independent Service Centre that carried out the installation of the system at the hospital, says: SALTO is proud to be known as the technological leader in access control. This award is proof that having decided to upgrade their security requirements, Salisbury District Hospital chose a winning system."
