SALTO Systems has added a new SALTO GEO electronic cylinder for cam locks to its model range, offering an easy way to boost security of these commonly used locks.

Cam locks are typically used to secure cupboards, document cabinets, school lockers, electrical panels etc. and usually consist of a base, which contains a keyhole, and a long tailpiece or tongue known as a cam. Cam locks are one of the simplest of lock fastenings. The cam itself acts as a locking bolt and is directly operated when the card is presented by the user and turns the plug, the cam is rotated between 180 and 90 degrees, securing the lock. Depending on how the lock is installed, the cam will fit into the lock strike in one position, and will be free of the strike when moved to a different position.

Developed over last year, the all-new mechanism features a revolutionary and unique high security block mechanism, truly innovative and a new type of lock mechanism that is not available from any other source. The SALTO GEO electronic cylinder for cam locks combines strength and enhanced protection and enables users to combine the advanced security of a ‘keyless’ high security electronic cylinder with the simplicity of a cam lock to provide a fully featured access controlled lock giving total control and management at all times over who is able to access what, where and when.

It can be fitted to a wide range of door types of varying thicknesses, including metal and wood doors. It comes with 2 cams giving the lock 3 positions for fastening and features user on card audit trailing capability via SALTO Virtual Network (SVN) technology as well as a choice of ID carriers including i-Button, LEGIC Advant and MiFare/DESfire technologies.
