Moxa is pleased to release the NPort S8458 series, a combination device server/ Ethernet switch with 8 Ethernet ports. The S8458 joins the 5-Ethernet port S8455 to supply compact, space-saving device server and Ethernet switch functionality in a single unit at very low power consumption and cost, perfect for space-constrained cabinets. There's no need to purchase switches and device servers separately. With a space-saving form factor, power-efficient design, and 8 Ethernet ports, the NPort S8458 is an ideal solution for traffic monitoring/control applications and renewable energy markets, such as solar power plants and wind farms. In addition to meeting demanding application requirements, the NPort S8458 can operate reliably and stably in a wide temperature range from -40 to 85°C.

All-in-one serial/Ethernet device server solution

The NPort S8458 series supports the full range of NPort series device server functions and adds a built-in full-function managed Ethernet switch, a potent combination that handles virtually any kind of application. In addition, Moxa's own Turbo Ring and Turbo Chain technology (recovery time < 20 ms) or RSTP/STP (IEEE 802.1w/D) provide Ethernet redundancy function to increase the reliability and availability.

Ring redundancy at the device level

The NPort S8458 series integrates a full function NPort device server with an industrial switch to carry serial and Ethernet devices at the same time. In addition, the NPort S8458 can also achieve redundancy using the STP/RSTP standards, Moxa's proprietary Turbo Ring, or Turbo Ring redundancy protocols. This all-in-one design can be used to optimise and simplify your device network, and enhance reliability.

Rugged industrial design with complete protection

  • UL60950-1: The NPort S8458 series complies with the UL60950-1 standard, which covers safety requirements for industrial control equipment.
  • Full Surge Protection: The NPort S8458 series is surge protected on the power, Ethernet, and serial interface to protect against voltage spikes.
  • Level 4 ESD: The NPort S8458 series supports high level, 15 KV, ESD protection to prevent damage from static electricity.
