Award winning performance

Europe’s leading security industry magazine Detektor has named Sony’s IPELA ENGINE ‘Best CCTV Product 2012’. The advanced signal processing platform scooped the acclaimed Detektor International Award on September 19th at SKYDD, the Nordic region’s leading Security industry trade fair.

The Detektor judging panel praised IPELA ENGINE as ‘the outstanding highlight of video surveillance products in 2012’. The next-generation processing system was described by the magazine as offered ‘a sensational improvement of picture quality and an essential contribution to image usability’.

Smoother images with wider dynamic range and lower noise

The IPELA ENGINE platform combines powerful signal processing and video analytics technologies to enhance the performance of IP video security systems. Teamed with Sony’s sensitive Exmor™ CMOS image sensor, IPELA ENGINE EX™ delivers these unique benefits:

  • Smoother moving pictures – High-efficiency video coding enables higher frame rates up to 60 fps for a smooth, less blurry viewing experience;
  • Excellent visibility in high-contrast scenes – View-DR processing combines images taken at different shutter speeds to deliver a wide dynamic range up to 130 dB (for HD 720p);
  • Clearer, low-noise images, even in low light – XDNR (Excellent Dynamic Noise Reduction) ensures clearer low-light images by combining single-frame noise reduction with reduction of differential noise signals from consecutive frames;
  • Enhanced face and object detection – Powerful DEPA Advanced video analytics improves detection of human faces and other objects for effective rule-based alarm triggers.
