Martin Brown is the new VP Sales Europe for Milestone’s IP software
Martin Brown will focus on IP VMS sales in key markets

Milestone Systems, the global leader in open platform IP video management software, announced that Martin Brown is joining the company as VP Sales Europe. Brown has previously made his mark at Symantec, Sun Microsystems and Tandem Computers.

Over the past decade, Milestone Systems has been on a stellar growth path with a worldwide leadership ranking for its development of open platform IP video management software. IMS research has reported the company to be number one in this category for five years in a row. Growth in the physical security sector in general has been high in double-digits, and as traditional analogue technology migrates to network IT modes, competition is naturally heating up.

"To build on our global success, Milestone has a goal to accelerate the growth of strategic business in our home markets of Europe. To help us strengthen our position in these key markets, we have engaged Martin Brown as our VP Sales Europe," states Lars Thinggaard, CEO & President of Milestone Systems. "He is a proven executive with a wealth of applicable experience for our business model and our plans for expansion."

At Symantec, Martin Brown was Senior Director of Enterprise Sales in the UK, where he delivered strong revenue growth and led the change process that cemented the enterprise sales teams together from Symantec and Veritas, after that company was acquired by Symantec. A clear focus on engaging all facets of the company to address customer requirements was the key to the success of this business.

Prior to that, Martin Brown was at Sun Microsystems where he led three different businesses - Financial Services, Wholesale Financial Markets, and Corporate Alliances. With the Financial Services business, he created Sun's largest commercial vertical unit in EMEA by merging the UK Investment and Retail finance units resulting in a $250m business with product, software, services and support. The channel was a key element in this success, and Brown worked with the partner network to ensure full sector coverage.

Martin Brown furthermore set up the Corporate Alliances business at Sun, which was responsible for Sun's relationships with major system integrators, outsourcing partners and independent software vendors.

"With Sun's Corporate Alliances unit, I learnt first-hand that customers and partners needed the ability to build solutions using industry leading best-of-breed technology. They could no longer turn to just one IT supplier for everything. Open systems were a vital component in making this work. This experience has led to my belief in the Milestone vision for convergence to IP video management software with the open platform. I look forward to leading the Milestone teams in Europe and working with our partners to build deep and wide relationships across the market," says Martin Brown.

Martin Brown is British and will be relocating from the UK to Denmark, reporting to the company's Chief Sales and Marketing Officer, Eric Fullerton. Brown starts with Milestone immediately, at the IFSEC trade show in Birmingham UK, meeting many of the professionals involved in the Milestone Systems universe.
