Avigilon’s surveillance system helps Brooklyn Cooperative to monitor the storage area and offices to protect confidential member information from loss or theft
The Avigilon surveillance system enables users to search and locate footage in less time

Avigilon, a leader in high-definition (HD) and megapixel video surveillance solutions, recently announced that Brooklyn Cooperative Federal Credit Union, New York City’s fastest growing credit union, has deployed the Avigilon high-definition surveillance system. The credit union, which serves two of the borough’s lowest income neighborhoods, needed technology to secure $15 million in assets, protect staff and members, and meet insurance requirements while maintaining an open and accessible environment.

“We selected the Avigilon high-definition surveillance system on the recommendation of one of our board members who is responsible for physical security at a large bank in Manhattan,” explained Samira Rajan, CEO at Brooklyn Cooperative Federal Credit Union. “Avigilon delivers the image quality, advanced management features, and storage capacity we need to achieve exceptional security in an open environment.”

Brooklyn Cooperative can better meet requirements set by the insurance provider to ultimately lower premiums. With detailed coverage of the ATM vestibule, the credit union can also resolve claims of debit card fraud to lower liability costs. Brooklyn Cooperative can also monitor the storage area and offices to protect confidential member information from loss or theft. Users can search and locate footage in a fraction of the time of the previous system, and the company has eliminated the risk of false alarms by being able to monitor the system remotely during off-hours before contacting police. Brooklyn Cooperative has had no network bandwidth issues since deployment and plans to integrate its new branch when it opens later this year for central management. Finally, monitoring fees are a third of the cost of its previous provider.

“Spanning an entire block on one of New York City’s busiest streets and providing workshops and counselling to members during evenings and weekends, Brooklyn Cooperative requires a security system that goes beyond traditional measures,” said Bryan Schmode, executive vice president of global sales at Avigilon. “The Avigilon high-definition surveillance system delivers the image clarity, storage capacity, and advanced management features needed to achieve the best overall protection possible.”
