BSIA will continue to engage with the Government in order to discuss the relevant regulation and legislation in more detail
 BSIA Chief Executive, James Kelly

The British Security Industry Association (BSIA) has welcomed the government's announcement of new security and crime-reduction roles for Baroness Angela Browning and James Brokenshire MP, citing regulatory and legislative changes as two key areas for further engagement.

These changes follow the resignation of Baroness Pauline Neville-Jones from the post of Minister for Security and Counter-Terrorism, a role that has subsequently been filled with the appointment of James Brokenshire MP. Brokenshire's previous role as Minister for Crime Prevention and Anti-Social Behaviour Reduction will be taken on by Baroness Browning.

"The BSIA has long been at the forefront of improving industry standards and working with key government Ministers, in addition to the Police, Home Office and industry bodies is crucial in our bid to ensure best practice within the private security industry." Comments BSIA Chief Executive, James Kelly.

"This is an interesting time for the security industry, with significant regulatory change on the legislative agenda. The BSIA would like to thank Baroness Neville-Jones for her contribution to our industry, and wish her well in her onward career."

"Moving forward, the BSIA will continue to engage with the Government in order to discuss the relevant regulation and legislation in more detail, and I look forward to working closely with Baroness Browning and Mr. Brokenshire to ensure that forthcoming legislation meets the needs of the private security industry."
