The recent research reveals that 91% of BSIA’s members, business in Russia has grown over the year
BSIA and its export council play a vital role in forging productive trade links between UK security companies

UK security exports to Russia are growing steadily, according to members of the BSIA’s Export Council in research conducted ahead of this month’s Moscow International Protection, Fire and Safety (MIPS) exhibition, which takes place at Moscow’s Expocentre between 15th and 18th April.

The largest industry event in Eastern Europe and Russia, MIPS brings together major security companies looking to reach out to thousands of buyers interested in CCTV, IT security and industrial health and safety.

As the trade association representing the UK's private security industry, the British Security Industry Association (BSIA) and its dedicated Export Council play a vital role in forging productive trade links between UK security companies and overseas buyers from around the world.

Over two thirds of the BSIA’s Export Council are active in the Russian region, with recent research conducted by the BSIA revealing that for 91% of members, business in Russia has either remained steady or has in fact increased in the year since the last MIPS event.

According to the Association’s survey, government organisations in Russia are leading the way in the purchase of UK security products, with two thirds of respondents citing this as the most important vertical market targeted by their business in Russia. For the remaining third of respondents, the hotel and leisure sector is the most important vertical market.

“The increased demand for UK security solutions from Russian customers is a reflection of the quality of solutions."

John Davies, Chairman of the Export Council, comments: “Interestingly, our research has revealed that the key driver of purchasing decisions in Russia is the initial purchase price, with less importance being placed on added-value factors such as technical innovation and ease of use.

“While price is important to everyone during difficult economic times, UK security solutions can deliver far greater benefits than their ‘budget’ counterparts, and demonstrating the capability of UK solutions to deliver effective, holistic security solutions that offer real return on investment will be a priority for BSIA members at MIPS this year.”

However, there is an increased awareness among Russian consumers of the value of UK security solutions. John Davies continues: “The increased demand for UK security solutions from Russian customers is a reflection of the quality of solutions and the industry-leading nature of the innovations that BSIA companies are able to deliver to customers across a wide range of sectors in the region.”

Visitors to MIPS can visit the BSIA and find out more from its members at stand number A525.
