Skyguard were approached by SITC to implement a security regime to keep the athletes, spectators and host cities safe and secure
The SITC project gave UK companies the opportunity to showcase innovative technologies at the London 2012 games

Skyguard are proud to announce that they provided 24/7 protection to Team GB throughout the London 2012 Games. Security staff and key personnel of Great Britain men’s and women’s football teams were issued MySOS personal safety devices to ensure protection wherever they were.

A gagging order which prevented businesses from promoting their involvement in supplying goods and services to London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games has been lifted, allowing us to publicise their involvement last summer.

Skyguard were approached by the Security Innovation and Technology Consortium (SITC) to join their project which gave UK companies an opportunity to showcase innovative technologies at the London 2012 games, whilst implementing a security regime to keep the athletes, spectators and host cities safe and secure.

Although the Olympics represented a significant opportunity for the UK Security Sector to demonstrate advances in technology, it also had to be of a tried and tested standard in an operational capacity. Skyguard’s premier personal safety service met both criteria.

The decision to allow the promotion of services by UK companies to London 2012 was announced by the secretary of state for culture, Maria Miller, and chairman of the BOA, Lord Coe. It followed a campaign by companies that supplied the Games for the right to publicise details of their involvement.

Lord Coe said: "Thousands of British businesses supplied goods and services that were essential to the successful staging of the games, and I am delighted that many of these companies will now have the opportunity to highlight and officially promote their involvement in the Games.”

Skyguard’s Marketing Director, Will Murray said “Being entrusted with the safety and security of high-profile members of Team GB was a very proud moment for us. We were delighted to work with SITC alongside their partners such as UKTI, BSIA and ADS in supplying innovative, yet proven technology to one of the most successful events in British history. Not only does this demonstrate Skyguard’s competency in delivering the very best in personal protection, but we are also regarded as being at the forefront of cutting-edge UK technology.”
