Elmdene will also showcase a compact and cost effective in-line UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply), the UPS12-2200 at IFSEC Istanbul
Elmdene's plans to promote PSUs reflects the strong demand the company is already seeing for these solutions

Innovative electronic security and fire products manufacturer, Elmdene International Limited - a subsidiary of Potter Electric Signal, LLC - showcases its industry-leading solutions, including highly efficient and reliable switch mode PSUs (Power Supply Units), for the first time in Turkey at the inaugural IFSEC Istanbul exhibition (Rumeli Hall, Stand D50) which takes place from 30 September - 02 October. Elmdene, a long-time member of the BSIA (British Security Industry Association) and the trade body's Export Council, exhibits as part of the UK Pavilion at IFSEC Istanbul and believes that there is tremendous potential for its solutions to be used in Turkey and, as a result, is keen to tie-up a local distribution deal.

Elmdene's plan to promote PSUs, built around switch mode technology, to Turkish customers at IFSEC Istanbul reflects the strong demand that the company is already seeing for these solutions, compared to more traditional linear power supplies, across other parts of EMEA. The company confirms that sales of the latest PSUs, for use in intruder alarm, access control, CCTV and fire applications, are up by an impressive 35% year-on-year and the entry to the Turkish market is designed to push this figure up even further.

According to Elmdene the surge in interest around switch mode PSUs is being driven by a number of pivotal factors. When deployed, for example, Elmdene reports that switch mode units offer a higher level of efficiency (typically 80-87%) and, correspondingly, lower energy bills and a reduced carbon footprint. In addition, because they run significantly cooler than established designs the PSUs are reckoned to be less susceptible to failure. Significantly, thanks to a wide operating range, Elmdene's models are very tolerant of input mains voltage fluctuations.

Beyond the switch mode PSU ranges, which are taking centre stage during IFSEC Istanbul, Elmdene is planning to demonstrate its new Power over Ethernet (PoE) standby solutions which, it says, offer a critical safety net for security, access control and IT applications. Elmdene will also showcase a compact and cost effective in-line UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply), the UPS12-2200. This is designed, specifically, to back-up 12V dc devices up to 10W (800mA) such as CCTV cameras and door locks. In addition, the company's wide selection of internal and external sounders for use with intruder alarm systems are to feature on-stand at the exhibition.

One Elmdene product which is certain to grab the attention of visitors to IFSEC Istanbul is the groundbreaking Merlin Graffiti Detector, an award-winning preventative solution to the problem of graffiti across our cities and transportation networks. Essentially the small, unobtrusive, wall-mounted Merlin unit employs an advanced algorithm to identify the specific sound signature of aerosol spray paints, typically in 5-8 seconds. This allows action to be taken to warn-off vandals by integrating the Merlin with a local siren or remote CCTV and alarm monitoring solutions.

"Undoubtedly, IFSEC Istanbul is the ideal springboard for us to confirm our intention to enter the Turkish market and secure the right distribution agreement"

Talking in more detail about the rationale for launching into the Turkish market, Ian Moore, Elmdene's Managing Director, feels that the time has never been better for the company to do business here: "Over recent years we have seen the Turkish economy post unprecedented growth figures. With major infrastructure projects, and commercial developments, at an all time high this has pushed-up demand for security and fire-related products, especially those, like our PSUs that can meet the most stringent quality and performance standards.

"Undoubtedly, IFSEC Istanbul is the ideal springboard for us to confirm our intention to enter the Turkish market and secure the right distribution agreement. This new focus on Turkey also ties-in with the concerted moves we have been making in other key areas like the Middle East where we have significantly enhanced our presence over the past 12 months. Looking ahead, we are certainly well placed to expand our horizons still further as we celebrate our half century this year and are now part of the Potter family of companies. We are committed to the ongoing development of innovative solutions, from switch mode PSUs to sounders and cutting edge Power over Ethernet standby power supplies, that address the changing needs of customers whether they be in Turkey, the Middle East, the UK or elsewhere."
