G4S Secure Solutions has won six BSIA regional awards this year alone
G4S officers were recognised for their work at the Hinkley Point C nuclear new build site in Somerset

Recently, G4S security officers were presented with the prestigious BSIA Award for Best Regional Team (South West) in recognition of their work at the Hinkley Point C nuclear new build site in Somerset.

At the on-site presentation Trevor Elliott, the BSIA’s Director of Manpower and Membership Services, handed the award to Luke Pearce, popular G4S senior team leader at Hinkley Point C. Also there to celebrate the team’s achievements were John Whitwam, Managing-Director of Security Services at G4S, and Director of Gurkha Services Noah Price.

The Hinkley Point C officers from G4S Secure Solutions’ Gurkha Services division, made up of a mixture of local people and former Gurkha army personnel, have faced down varied and challenging incidents at the nuclear site, including a demonstration of over 700 protesters. G4S Gurkha Services officers are recognised for utilising their extensive skills, knowledge and experience, fused with tactical and strategic adapted military thinking, to defend the isolated site on the north Somerset coast.

The G4S team will now be put forward for the national judging phase of the awards. If successful, following a second round of judging by the BSIA, G4S will be invited to attend the Association’s annual lunch on July 16th where they will be presented with the national award. Thus far G4S Secure Solutions has won six BSIA regional awards this year alone.

Commenting on the award Luke Pearce said: “On behalf of the G4S team I would like to say we’re all thrilled to receive this award from the BSIA for our work at Hinkley Point C. We face some pretty unique security challenges at the site and no two working days are ever the same. It’s great that this has been recognised by the award and it really is a proud moment for us, as well as a career highlight we can all share. Knowing you’ve done a great job for your customer is how we measure our job satisfaction at Hinkley Point C, but having this award helps too!”

Noah Price added: “I’m delighted that my team at Hinkley Point C has scooped this accolade from the BSIA because it underlines the consummate professionalism of these individuals. They have done G4S proud on many occasions at the site including in the face of some 700 protesters and going that extra mile is second nature to them – off duty and on. If you want to see how enhanced guarding is done, in a volatile environment critical to national infrastructure, you want to watch the G4S team at Hinkley Point C!”
