Europe-wide usage of varifocal lenses from SENKOADL includes a recent project at a leading university in Poland.

The University of Lodz to the south-west of Warsaw has increased campus security with the installation of 50 cameras - predominantly Samsung and Bosch - fitted with 3-8.55mm lenses from SENKOADL.

A major textile town dubbed the Manchester of Eastern Europe, Lodz has a student population of 42,000 whose safety on campus has been improved by local distributor and systems consultant ASD Security Systems.

Mr Jacek Cegielski, a director of the company, said, "SENKOADL's lens offerings work well with the cameras currently being specified in Poland.  The units excel in day-night applications since they accommodate the focus shift between white and IR light.  These lenses not only produce crisp images but are competitively priced, a factor that is important in any context and crucial when public money is being invested."

He continued, "The camera/lens assemblies are operating externally and contribute to the safety of students and staff as they move around the campus from teaching facilities to residential and sports areas.  The university authorities are expanding the CCTV system as well as replacing older equipment."

The 3.0-8.5mm varifocal unit is 1/3" format and has an iris range of F1.0-C.  Iris drive is manual and the lens has a CS mount.  Horizontal angle of view (1/3") is 90.5°-33.6° and (1/4") 67.2°-25.2°.  Minimum object distance is 0.2m and dimensions (mm) are ø35 x 46.  The lens weighs 51 gs.

SENKOADL uses high-resolution Japanese lens technology and extraordinary low dispersion (ELD) glass.  But unlike many of its competitors from the region, the company has a sizable European presence with offices and extensive warehousing in Berkshire, England.

This means that installers, system consultants and end-users working in the EC can be confident of quick turnaround, rapid unit replacement and first-rate after sales support through access to skilled engineers.  The company excels in units for demanding light conditions and 24-hour surveillance with its "pro" series of lenses.
