Johnson Controls P2000 security management system is in use on Roger Williams University campus
Johnson Controls specialise in security management systems
Roger Williams University, an independent liberal arts university in Bristol, Rhode Island, has implemented an efficient, cost-effective way to manage security access for students, faculty and staff across its 140-acre campus. Systems integration enabled the university to move from a manual process to an automatic one, enhancing security procedures and operational efficiencies across the campus facilities.

Project highlights include:

  • Automated Access Assignments to Reduce Errors - A new system interface now connects the university's enterprise resource planning system and the Johnson Controls P2000 security management system. Access assignments for faculty and staff are automatically updated to allow appropriate admittance. Forty percent of security operations are now automated, eliminating up to 95 percent of manual processing errors.
  • Improved Student Security Procedures - The identity management solution improved internal policies and procedures for the physical security of personnel, property and assets. With the new integrated solution, the university implemented a five-swipe student housing access policy - what would have been a momentous undertaking with a manual process.
  • Enhanced Systems Integration - The P2000 security management system, originally installed in 2006, was expanded to several new facilities and now provides access monitoring and control for all 65 buildings on campus. Over 500 card readers and more than 50 surveillance cameras installed across campus are integrated with the system.
