A CCTV system comprising the very latest Bosch Security Systems cameras, domes and digital video recorders (DVRs) has been installed at Horwich Town Hall to better monitor the movement of staff and visitors throughout the building.

Bolton Council’s Corporate Property Services department approached Skelmersdale-based Unique Integrated Systems (UIS) to install the system to coincide with a wider refurbishment programme. Mark Ashall, Operations Director at UIS, specifi ed Bosch technology because of its proven reliability and performance: “We have used Bosch kit on a number of projects over the past few years,” he says, “and have always found them to be reliable, and with excellent image quality even in low light conditions.

“The quality of the technology is matched by the quality of technical support available with the installation process should our engineers need it.”

The Bosch FlexiDome cameras are installed within the building to monitor the reception, which is unmanned, and outside to record the entry/exit of anybody onto the site.

The system is monitored by a council building caretaker who passes any incidents of note on to Paul Bolton, Security Services Manager at Bolton Council. Paul has been impressed with the Bosch equipment thus far: “We felt that the entrances were not as secure as they should be and decided a CCTV system was the best way of protecting everyone,” he says.

“We also use it to monitor the movement of people around the building, and have been impressed with the quality of the images and the performance of the cameras to date.” Horwich forms a part of the Borough of Bolton electing three Councillors from the Horwich and Blackrod Ward and three Councillors from the Horwich North East Ward.

The Bosch Video Recorder 400 Series is a four channel digital recorder, using the latest compression technology and with a built in web server for browser-based video management. The 400 Series, available in basic or advanced models, is ideally suited for residential and small business applications, which could be offi ces or retail premises, with up to four analogue cameras.

The basic version provides one audio input and local archiving is via USB, whilst the advanced model has four audio inputs and also includes a DVD writer. With both models the video and audio signals are recorded whilst simultaneously providing the multi-screen viewing and playback.

With their robust dome enclosures, FlexiDome cameras can be installed in almost any location to provide reliable surveillance with pan, tilt and zoom functionality. The IP66 and NEMA-4X approved FlexiDomeXT+ is capable of withstanding the worst weather conditions. It is also vandal proof, with a patented impact-resistant design to combat hostile attacks. The FlexiDomeXT+ enclosure also offers a choice of highquality varifocal lenses, whilst its patented bubble shape and scratch-resistant coating with UV block assures optimal optical performance.
